I have used this fish food for years now, about 25 years I think. I can’t remember who recommended it to me but I am glad they did and I recommend it to you. Let’s learn a little about it so you can decide for yourself if it’s right for you.
First off, my own experience with this is that every fish I’ve ever owned (with the exception of mandarins and scooter blenny) will eat this. It is a very complete nutrition so even my tangs have grown fat and happy on it. Of course your hermits and shrimp will all eat this as well. If it lands on anemone they will consume it as well as will many LPS corals. I don’t fee the corals this, but if it lands on them it is eaten and does not harm to them. I don’t recommend it as a coral food though. Just fish and any invert that grabs it.
This is my primary fish food for all my fish and has been. It comes in a pellet form, which I do not like due to how it sinks.
I recommend with this flake you take a pinch and put it below the water line and release it. If you can turn off your pumps during feeding, it’s a good idea. The flake falls slowly in that condition and gives your fish maximum time to consume it. This means they get more, you feed less, and not as much goes to waste which reduces the amount of detritus and nutrients caused by feeding. That’s good.

What this means
As you can see it is low in phosphorus. You might be asking, “what is ash doing in there?”. Good question. It isn’t really ashes like you think. Rather it is the mineral content. Things like calcium, phosphorus, potassium, and magnesium. In the case of Formula II the ash + phosphorus content is rather low. In other foods it can get as high as 12%. What this means is, you aren’t adding a lot of extra crap to your tank that your fish don’t really need.
