A new pufferfish, Arothron multilineatus (Actinopterygii: Tetraodontiformes: Tetraodontidae), from the Indo-West Pacific – Springer

Puffers are my favorite fish, hands down. They are like dogs to me in that they get attached to specific people, play, and within the limits of their aquatic environment and morphology, can be trained. So whenever news of puffers comes long I like to read about it.

Take a moment to read this scientific paper on the new species Arothron multilineatus. Though I doubt any of us will ever have one in our tanks I still say, “Welcome new friend!”

A new pufferfish, Arothron multilineatus, is described on the basis of four specimens collected from southern Japan. It is distinguished from the other 13 species of Arothron by having many longitudinal white lines on the dark greenish-brown head and body.
